CARIOCA CARNIVAL

Known as the world's biggest popular party, the brazilian carnival has been famous for a long time, especially in Rio, where the original samba was born.

Every year more and more tourists come to the city to enjoy the street carnival and the parade, at Marquês de Sapucaí Avenue, also called as Sambódromo.

The tradicional parade is prepared by the communities from favelas and the suburb, the poor part of the city. And it’s so beautiful to see them on the avenue feeling special to be responsible for that amazing party and for being under the world's eye for a good reason.

As a grandson of a former member of Portela Samba School, I've always loved the parade. It’s moving to see the joy of these people who works hard to keep this beautiful community work alive and strong every single year.
